Silica Testing

Silica
How does crystalline silica
affect your business?
Crystalline silica is a
naturally occurring element in rock which is in substantially
quantities in sand, sandstone, granite, clay, shale and slate.
Man-made products such as concrete and mortar also contain silica.
This dust when airborne and
respirable can be extremely hazardous to health and has its own
WEL (workplace exposure limit) that is set at 0.1mg/m3
TWA 8hrs. DO YOU COMPLY?
Is silica part of your risk
assessment and does it form part of your COSHH assessment? IT
SHOULD!
The HSE are now enforcing quite
rigorously, exposure limits to silica, without this as part of
your COSHH assessment and within the excepted limits then you
could be served with a prohibition notice!
The testing for crystalline
silica is a service Monitor Environmental Ltd offer at a cost
effective price and doesn’t have to be for every employee but can
be representative of the group!
Monitor Environmental Ltd offer
this service to fulfil your COSHH obligations and future proof
your company against any future claims from employees of
silicosis!
